Dry Scrubbers
The most widely used type of industrial scrubber, dry scrubbers are designed to scrub harmful elements from contaminated gas streams, preventing the release of toxins into the environment. Dry scrubbers do not use wet processes, but instead use a dry reagent (chemisorbant media) to either neutralize or separate the acids from the gas. Maintenance is considerably less costly for dry scrubbers than what is required for wet scrubbers.
How Dry Scrubbers Work
Dry scrubbers manage toxic gases by combining carefully chosen chemical reagents with the exhaust stream at incredibly high speeds, thereby neutralizing the pollutants in the gas. Many types of chemisorbant media can be used with a dry scrubber to effectively treat numerous toxic gases, including chlorine gas and H2S.
Advantages of Dry Scrubbers
Dry scrubbers are a popular and proven choice for a wide range of facilities that need treatment of polluted exhaust gases. Some of the key advantages offered by dry scrubbers include:
- Dry scrubbers are cost-effective with no liquid buildup or corrosion issues
- Dry scrubbers are low-maintenance with easy disposal of light-weight spent media
- Dry scrubbers offer easy disposal of media with no need to treat heavy liquid waste before disposal
- Dry scrubbers remove contaminants using solid materials with no wet sludge byproduct
